In collaboration with researchers from Riga Technical University HPC Center<\/a> (HPC – High-Performance Computing<\/em>), scientists from the Institute of Numerical Modelling (University of Latvia) have begun working for a new EU project. The mission of the project is to develop, extend and maintain a network of high-performance computing competence centers in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With funding from the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), EuroCC and CASTIEL <\/a>will build a European network of 33 national HPC competence centres. These competence centres will coordinate HPC expertise at national level and ease access to European HPC opportunities for research and scientific users, public administration but also in different industrial sectors. The centers will promote an exchange of expertise, knowledge and computing power across the entire European HPC network. EuroCC funding is more than 56 millions euros, it was launched on the 1st of September, in the two following years collaboration between 33 participant countries will be ensured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two projects will be happening simultaneously. The aim of CASTIEL<\/a> is coordinating cooperation between the national member state centers. CASTIEL will ensure educational activities, internships, international workshops, twinning partnerships and topic-specific working groups to address issues of shared interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultimate objective of the projects is to ensure a coordinated and consistent high level of expertise across Europe in HPC and related disciplines such as high-performance data analytics (HPDA) and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both projects will be coordinated by the High Performance Computing Center (University of Stuttgart)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
