Most likely, each of us has been in a situation where we have admired the achievements of someone truly outstanding – whether it be the subtle knowledge of music, the subtle ingredient that needs to be added for a meal to become a work of art, or simply the right word at the right time and place. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally there has been a special section of the annual conference of the University of Latvia devoted to the\u00a0path to excellence in the research field of the mathematical modelling of physical processes. This year marks the first time the section is organized by the Institute of Numerical Modelling.
