A Review of the “Fimar for Web” Conference
Present the Present: FiMar for Web is a free, dynamic downstream coastal service for oceanography and marine meteorology for the Baltic Sea. The user may model the drift trajectories of objects of interest in a virtual environment. The service provides the present state, a one week hindcast and a two-day forecast, updated 4 times per day. It is a working example of a successful usage downstream of the Copernicus Marine Environmental Monitoring Service (CMEMS) information.
The visual identity of the service includes associations (scalar maps of water level, wave height, flow current velocity etc.) with the paintings of Nikolaj Roerich, one of the most famous personalities in Latvia and world culture of the 20th century.
The conference of the “Present the Present” service stakeholders took place at the University of Latvia Science Building on November 8, 2019 (the 100-year anniversary of University of Latvia).
